About the role
Artera is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to lead our medical strategy and serve as the company's primary medical voice. This executive role involves shaping our clinical direction by identifying critical unmet needs in cancer care and ensuring our innovations align with patient benefit and business objectives. You will be instrumental in building our scientific credibility and fostering key relationships within the oncology community.

What you'll do
- Define and articulate a compelling medical vision that aligns with Artera's mission and commercial goals.
- Identify and prioritize significant unmet clinical needs in oncology with the greatest potential for patient impact and market relevance.
- Act as the main medical representative for Artera, engaging with internal teams, investors, partners, and the broader oncology field.
- Anticipate changes in cancer treatment practices to ensure Artera remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Oversee strategies for developing and maintaining a high-quality clinical data pipeline to support product advancement and validation.
- Cultivate relationships with academic institutions, clinical collaborators, and key opinion leaders to advance Artera's scientific and commercial aims.
- Guide teams in designing, executing, and interpreting clinical studies that validate our tests and communicate their clinical value to physicians.
- Lead a team of physician leaders, synthesizing their collective expertise to inform company direction.
Requirements
- A practicing or former oncologist (radiation or medical oncologist) with a deep understanding of clinical impact and the ability to translate this into strategic company direction.
- 2 years of experience in an industry leadership capacity.
- 3 years of experience managing people and/or laboratory operations.
- A strong network of relationships with key opinion leaders and research communities in oncology.
- Proven experience developing and guiding programs across multiple cancer types.
- Ability to anticipate shifts in the clinical landscape and ensure research addresses the most impactful questions.
- Skilled and persuasive communicator capable of building confidence with clinical, scientific, and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in building valuable partnerships and collaborative relationships to support data generation and maintain connections with influential groups, such as guidelines committees.
- Decisive leader who can navigate ambiguity, provide clear direction to teams, and balance scientific integrity with business priorities.
- Commitment to maintaining a nimble and adaptable medical organization in a fast-paced oncology environment.

- Experience with AI-driven diagnostic tests in oncology.
- Familiarity with the ArteraAI Prostate Test and its clinical validation.
