About the role
The Senior Java Developer will play a key role in managing the coding, testing, and debugging of software applications according to system specifications. This position involves leading the creation of flowcharts, preparing production run instructions, and conducting research and analysis for project proposals and modifications.

What you'll do
- Manage the coding, testing, and debugging processes for software applications.
- Create and develop flowcharts and diagrams for project planning.
- Prepare detailed instructions for production runs.
- Lead research and analysis efforts for project proposals.
- Assess computer applications and review database schemas.
- Address and troubleshoot application-related issues.
- Oversee programming projects and coordinate team efforts.
- Establish standards and procedures for the programming team.
- Implement specialized software programs to improve systems.
- Suggest and execute changes to enhance system performance.
- Develop and maintain backup and restore protocols for business continuity.
- Assign, track, and coordinate the work of team members.
Requirements
- 15 years of experience in software development is required.
- 10 years of experience with JAVA is required.
- 8 years of experience with SQL databases is required.
- 5 years of experience in sustaining and developing large applications within a team setting is required.
- 8 years of experience with Linux is preferred.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, particularly JIRA, is preferred.
- Experience with Agile methodology for at least 2 years is preferred.
- 2 years of experience with applications related to the State of Texas and the Texas Department of Public Safety is preferred.
- Experience transitioning applications from legacy mainframe systems to a Java/SQL environment is preferred.
