What you'll do
Feedback and development of design for manufacturing and test processes improve PCBAs and wiring harnesses for the Apollo 2 platform.
Supply chain collaboration manages bills of materials, component sourcing, and component substitutions for electrical systems.
Coordination with vendors and manufacturing before, at, and after design release ensures electrical requirements are satisfied.
Root cause corrective actions resolve electrical problems in hardware and software integration.
Design documentation supports system bring-up and system field deployment for the robot platform.
Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers integrates improvements seamlessly across the robot stack.
Thorough documentation of all design changes and improvements ensures clear communication and knowledge transfer for the team.
Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance strengthens the electrical engineering capability of the team.
Requirements
A Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least 4 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer is required.
Experience with product lifecycle management and PLM systems such as Arena manages design data.
Competence in CAD tools including Altium or similar tools for PCB design and documentation is required.
Experience developing and maintaining CAD design rules ensures electrical integrity and manufacturability.
Proven experience designing, prototyping, and debugging PCB and PCBA work and interfacing with manufacturing groups during release and build is required.
Familiarity or experience with electronics lab tools and simulation tools such as LTSpice or PSpice supports analysis and verification.
Clear verbal and written communication develops detailed build assembly instructions and diagrams for production teams.
Complex hardware problems and electrical issues are solved using systematic methods and test equipment.
Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing uses a broad range of lab equipment for measurement and validation.
Travel up to 10% within the US and internationally supports collaboration and field support.
Practical notes
This is a direct hire role based in Austin, and outside agency solicitations are not permitted.
The role requires prolonged sitting, occasional lifting of 15 pounds, vision to read materials, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively.
