About the role
The Intuition is responsible for providing end-to-end legal and commercial support for the full lifecycle of U.S. government agreements. You will act as a strategic partner to the Defense vertical, ensuring that contract strategies align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role requires ownership of complex negotiations, from initial teaming agreements to final contract close-out, while maintaining strict compliance with federal acquisition regulations. You will collaborate across functions to translate technical solutions into legally sound and commercially viable contract structures. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating contractual risk before award and during execution. You will serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and government representatives on contracting matters. Success in this role means enabling the rapid deployment of mission-critical solutions to defense customers without compromising compliance.

What you'll do
Develop and execute contract strategies for new business initiatives with U.S. government clients in the defense sector.
Lead the preparation and negotiation of proposals, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and Applied Intuition's commercial policies.
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of government contracts, from pre-solicition planning through close-out and audits.
Draft, review, and negotiate teaming agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other critical transactional documents.
Oversee relationships with government contracting officers to ensure clear communication and adherence to terms.
Provide detailed guidance on pricing, cost accounting, and cost proposal development for government bids.
Administer and monitor subcontracting plans and supplier agreements to maintain regulatory compliance.
Implement and improve contract management processes to support scalability and audit readiness.
Maintain awareness of changes in FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific supplements to mitigate compliance risk.
Support business development activities by providing legal analysis on market entry and customer-specific requirements.
Lead cross-functional working sessions to resolve contract-related issues and streamline approval workflows.
Manage contract modifications, amendments, and waivers in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure all deliverables meet the quality standards required for government oversight and internal governance.
Serve as a subject matter expert on contract vehicles such as OTAs, GSA schedules, and FAR-based programs.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this role due to the nature of government contracting responsibilities.
You must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance as determined by the company requirements.
A Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field is required.
You must bring a minimum of five years of proven experience in government contracts roles within the U.S. government or related private industry.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing pricing strategies for government contracts is essential.
You must have hands-on experience with multiple contract types, including Fixed Price, Time and Materials, and Cost Plus arrangements.
Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) is required.
Experience managing contracts for software licenses, subcontractor relationships, and commercial items is necessary.
Nice to have
Prior experience at a defense technology company that sells software and/or hardware is strongly preferred.
Proven track record in contract management for Department of Defense programs is a significant advantage.
Experience negotiating and managing contracts for sales to international defense customers is valued.
Exposure to U.S. export controls compliance, including ITAR regulations, is considered beneficial.
Practical notes
This is an in-office position with an expectation of full-time presence, Monday through Friday.
The role may involve occasional remote work, such as starting the day with virtual meetings or adjusting hours for family commitments, based on mutual trust and responsibility.
