About the role
Apex is scaling the production of satellite buses to meet the growing demand for commercial space platforms. We are looking for a senior engineer to own the design and implementation of GNC systems for our spacecraft. This role reports to the Director of GNC, HITL and Mission Ops.

What you'll do
- Create and deploy GNC algorithms for orbit determination, attitude control, and precision pointing.
- Model spacecraft dynamics and run simulations to verify system stability and performance.
- Design and validate control hardware including reaction wheels, magnetic torquers, and thrusters.
- Partner with payload and vehicle teams to define requirements and ensure system integration.
- Execute trade studies to optimize configurations based on mass, power, and cost constraints.
- Build test procedures for system-level verification and troubleshoot telemetry data to resolve anomalies.
- Coordinate with software teams to integrate GNC modules into the broader satellite architecture.
- Define validation criteria for GNC subsystems and lead technical solutions from concept to completion.
Requirements
- U.S. Person status is required for access to export-controlled data.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional GNC engineering experience in aerospace or satellite environments.
- Proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, and Python for numerical analysis and simulation.
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics, control theory, and spacecraft dynamics.
- Experience with GNC hardware such as star trackers, gyroscopes, accelerometers, and actuators.
- Ability to use simulation tools like STK and MATLAB/Simulink.
