About the role
Lead the team responsible for Anthropic's public web presence, including anthropic.com and claude.com. These sites are crucial for introducing the world to Claude and Anthropic's mission. You will manage a skilled team of web engineers, overseeing the full technical stack from CMS to deployment, ensuring high-quality delivery for product launches and brand campaigns.

What you'll do
- Guide and expand the web engineering team, setting standards for quality and dependability.
- Define the technical direction for Anthropic's primary web properties, covering CMS, publishing, performance, SEO, localization, design systems, and incident response.
- Direct engineering efforts for product, model, and campaign launches, delivering high-quality web experiences on tight schedules.
- Develop internal tools and integrations, including AI-powered workflows, to empower designers and writers to publish content efficiently without engineering bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with design and editorial teams on advanced creative projects, data visualizations, and interactive content that require specialized engineering.
- Align web engineering initiatives with broader company goals across Marketing, Product, and Communications, prioritizing work that supports brand and business objectives.
Requirements
- 10 or more years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in an engineering management role.
- Prior management experience must be specifically within a marketing, brand, or design engineering department, not solely product engineering.
- Comprehensive ownership of a high-traffic marketing or brand website, including CMS, frontend, infrastructure, and publishing workflows.
- Strong personal expertise in frontend development, including TypeScript, React, modern CSS, and headless CMS platforms, with a preference for hands-on coding.
- Demonstrated experience building tools that improved efficiency and safety for non-engineers, with specific examples of impact.
- Proven ability to deliver under intense launch pressure with cross-functional teams while maintaining high quality.
- Comfortable working at the intersection of Design, Marketing, and Engineering.
- Keen interest in AI and enthusiasm for integrating Claude into web development and publishing processes.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.
Nice to have
- Held a Head of Web Engineering or similar platform leadership position at a product company.
- Experience building localization and multi-region web infrastructure.
- Background from a company where brand and product web teams collaborated closely, such as design tools, productivity software, or developer tools.
- Led the development and implementation of design systems or component libraries in production.
