About the role
This role involves leading a team that builds the platform for Anthropic's internal AI agents. These agents perform engineering and knowledge tasks within secure, credential-managed environments. You will guide your team to enhance agent productivity, ensure security, and maintain quality, all while providing clarity in a dynamic setting.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and implement the technical strategy and roadmap, converting objectives into actionable plans.
- Oversee the daily execution of your team's tasks.
- Prioritize team projects and manage them effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Actively contribute to building and deploying the runtime platform and associated tools.
- Define standards for secure agent execution at scale, collaborating with security teams on sandboxing, isolation, and credential management.
- Create foundational components that can be reused across various agents.
- Manage infrastructure scalability and reliability, including capacity planning across cloud providers and optimizing resource usage.
- Work with other teams to support the deployment of their agents.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale platforms or distributed systems.
- 1+ years of technical management experience, specifically in developing platforms or agents at scale.
- A strong interest in the transformative potential of advanced AI systems and agents, along with a commitment to their safe deployment.
- Experience with container or VM orchestration at scale.
- A focus on improving productivity and transforming work processes.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to support internal partners.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.
Nice to have
- Engineering management experience combined with a strong individual contributor background.
- Experience with harness engineering.
- Experience building security-sensitive infrastructure, such as sandboxing, workload isolation, credential management, or access control.
- Experience with capacity planning and utilization across multiple cloud providers.
- Experience collaborating with researchers, engineers, and other functional roles.
Practical notes
Anthropic sponsors visas and will make reasonable efforts to secure one if an offer is extended. The company expects staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
