About the role
Antares is developing advanced nuclear microreactors to provide clean energy for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications. We are looking for a Senior People Business Partner to guide our leadership and staff as we scale our operations and maintain a high-performance culture.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Act as a primary advisor to managers regarding employee relations, organizational health, and performance management.
- Design and execute scalable HR policies, compliance practices, and operational workflows.
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, headcount strategy, and organizational design.
- Coach managers on leadership development, feedback loops, and team dynamics.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including promotions, internal mobility, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
- Use workforce metrics and people analytics to identify trends and recommend data-driven improvements.
- Support cross-functional projects alongside Legal, Finance, IT, and Recruiting teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in HR or People Operations within high-growth, high-performance environments.
- Proficiency in employment law and HR best practices, with a focus on California regulations.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary to meet company milestones.
- Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Nice to have
- Experience as an early HR hire at a startup or scaling company.
- Background supporting engineering, manufacturing, or R&D teams.
- Experience managing both exempt and non-exempt employee populations.
- Proficiency with Rippling HRIS.
- Knowledge of employment laws in Washington, Idaho, or South Carolina.
- Experience with compensation planning and performance review cycles.

Practical notes
This role is based at our 322,000 square foot facility in Torrance, CA. We prioritize in-person collaboration and require 5 days per week on-site. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
