About the role
Antares is seeking a Nuclear Operations Engineer to translate nuclear programs and systems into executable, deployable solutions. This position focuses on ensuring reactor systems can be successfully deployed, started, and operated in alignment with design and safety specifications. You will contribute to the development of operational programs and support the training of operations personnel.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of reactor experiments and plant facilities to maximize availability.
- Develop and manage nuclear training programs for operators and maintenance staff.
- Identify staffing needs and create necessary procedures, personnel, and programs for successful operation.
- Uphold high standards for performance and operational excellence.
- Oversee the effective operation of nuclear activities for Antares test and deployed reactors.
- Participate in and lead technical discussions, reviews, and working groups with internal and external parties.
- Provide feedback to engineering and program teams to enhance the scalability and repeatability of reactor deployments.
- Obtain Reactor Operator and Senior Reactor Operator qualifications to facilitate the operation of test and deployed reactors.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated technical fields.
- Experience collaborating across various disciplines to deliver complex systems or projects.
- Proven ability to integrate technical, regulatory, and operational requirements into actionable plans.
- Demonstrated capability to perform effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Strong technical communication skills, suitable for engaging both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in engineering (nuclear, mechanical, chemical, aerospace, or a related discipline).
- Experience supporting reactor operations, startup, commissioning, or deployment.
- Familiarity with nuclear safety and compliance programs.
- Experience working with customers, regulators, or external partners in technical settings.
- Prior experience in the U.S. Navy nuclear program, national laboratories, or the commercial nuclear industry.
