Materials Engineer II

What you'll do

• Participate in material development and qualification, including lifetime assessments and property evaluations.
• Design and execute physical, thermal, and mechanical tests that simulate the reactor environment.
• Use statistical methods to analyze how process variables and environmental factors affect material properties.
• Conduct material characterization, including investigations into failure causes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, neutronics, mechanical, testing, and quality engineers to integrate materials, define operational limits, and optimize processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in materials engineering.
• Competence in using optical and electron microscopy, and in evaluating mechanical properties.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and task completion.

Nice to have

• 3 or more years of experience working within an integrated production team.
• Familiarity with the effects of radiation on materials.
• Knowledge of stainless steel, nickel-based superalloys, and ceramics.
• Experience with material coatings.
• Strong communication abilities for cross-functional collaboration and explaining technical information.
