About the role
Antares is building mass-producible microreactors to advance clean energy for terrestrial and space applications. As our first Controller, you will establish our financial infrastructure and accounting operations as we transition from research and development into commercial production.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the full cycle of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes to ensure GAAP compliance.
- Design and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting workflows.
- Generate financial statements for management, investors, lenders, and auditors.
- Oversee technical accounting areas including revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, fixed assets, and equity.
- Build out treasury, payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, and expense management functions.
- Coordinate with tax advisors and external auditors for regulatory filings and annual audits.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and fundraising efforts.
- Implement accounting systems, ERP solutions, and automation tools to support manufacturing and cost accounting.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including time in both public accounting and industry.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller leadership role.
- Proficiency in U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience managing external audits and tax advisor relationships.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems like NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
Nice to have
- Experience building an accounting function from the ground up at a venture-backed startup.
- Background in manufacturing, inventory accounting, and standard costing.
- Knowledge of government contracting, DCAA compliance, and FAR/DFARS regulations.
- Familiarity with ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 718.
- Experience with procurement and expense management platforms such as Ramp or Silkline.
- Ability to manage cap table reporting and 409A valuations.
