Tech Lead, M&A Platform

About the role

American Operator is seeking a technical leader to manage our AI-driven acquisition platform. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the systems used to identify, evaluate, and finalize business acquisitions.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Collaborate with internal teams to identify bottlenecks and opportunities within the M&A lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain the M&A platform, managing the roadmap from initial design to production support.
• Architect systems for data ingestion, entity resolution, enrichment, scoring, and storage.
• Create internal tools and workflows that reduce manual data analysis and documentation time for the business development and investment teams.
• Implement integrations and automations using APIs, webhooks, Zapier, and Make to maintain data integrity across systems.
• Use software and AI to increase the volume and quality of acquisitions per employee.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering, specifically within go-to-market environments.
• Ability to convert business requirements into functional technical architectures.
• Preference for rapid iteration and the use of third-party tools over custom-built complexity.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff.

Nice to have

• Experience with web crawling, data enrichment, and entity resolution.
• Background as a founder or early employee at a startup.
• Experience in fintech, banking, or investment sectors.
• Previous work focused on the small business market.
