The PartiQL/HubSchema team is integral to this platform, focusing on the creation of query languages, schema modeling, and data validation technologies that ensure vast amounts of data are accessible and reliable.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and implement essential components of the PartiQL and HubSchema technologies utilized throughout Amazon's data platform.
- Enhance HubSchema's spoke converters and the canonical schema model to accommodate various storage formats and compute engines.
- Create APIs for schema validation and compatibility to identify type mismatches and potential data issues before deployment.
- Improve the runtime efficiency of PartiQL for applications that require low latency.
- Facilitate the integration of HubSchema across BDT services, replacing outdated conversion logic with standardized library converters.
- Contribute to the open-source PartiQL project and its reference implementations.
- Collaborate with various teams within BDT to provide comprehensive customer solutions.
- Uphold high standards for operational excellence, testing, and engineering quality in systems critical to Amazon's data ecosystem.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, excluding internships.
- At least 2 years of experience in system design or architecture, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
- A year of experience as a software development engineer or in a similar role.
- A year of experience in designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- A year of experience in Object-Oriented Design principles.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Nice to have
- Over 3 years of experience in the complete software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
Skills & tools
- Experience with distributed systems, data infrastructure, query engines, compilers, type systems, data serialization formats, or schema management is advantageous.
Practical notes
- The base salary for this position ranges from $143,700 to $194,400 annually.
- Compensation packages include sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final pay will be based on experience, qualifications, and location.
