Software Development Engineer, RDS SQL Server

About the role

Join the Amazon RDS team to build and maintain high-availability database control systems. You will work on the SQL Server engine to improve the reliability, scale, and performance of cloud-based database management.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for database automation and management.
• Resolve root causes of software defects and create metrics to track system performance.
• Participate in design reviews and code evaluations to ensure high-quality, reliable software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions and business outcomes.
• Build and deploy systems that manage database scaling, fail-over, and monitoring.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional, non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship experience in system design or architecture, specifically regarding reliability and scaling.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of experience managing the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent field.
