About the role
Amazon S3 is one of the largest distributed storage systems globally, managing trillions of objects and handling billions of transactions per second. As a Software Development Engineer in the S3 Index team, you will work on innovative solutions that enhance the durability and availability of key-value metadata, tackling complex challenges in a high-scale environment.

What you'll do
- Design and implement software solutions that ensure the reliability and performance of S3 Index systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address scalability and availability challenges in a dynamic cloud environment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience, excluding internships.
- Minimum of 2 years in designing or architecting systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
- A year of experience as a software development engineer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in developing large-scale, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications using languages such as C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- Experience with Object-Oriented Design principles.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language.
Nice to have
- Over 3 years of experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- A Bachelor's degree specifically in computer science or a related field.
Skills & tools
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing concepts.
- Experience with software development tools and methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Practical notes
The salary range for this position is between $143,700 and $194,400 annually. Your compensation package will also include sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs).
