Product Manager, Crypto

About the role

Alpaca is seeking a Product Manager to oversee a key area of our crypto product offerings. You will be instrumental in developing and launching features related to crypto trading, custody, tokenization, or on-chain settlement. This role directly influences how financial institutions and fintech companies integrate digital assets into their services using Alpaca's infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of a core crypto product area from conception through to delivery, focusing on trading, custody, tokenization, or settlement.
• Guide product strategy by evaluating market demand, regulatory requirements, and technical feasibility.
• Contribute to the overall crypto product roadmap, emphasizing B2B and developer-focused solutions like APIs and SDKs.
• Write product specifications and collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure timely product releases.
• Engage with current and prospective partners, including broker-dealers and fintech firms, to understand their integration needs for Alpaca's crypto APIs.
• Translate partner feedback into product decisions, managing expectations while maintaining strong relationships.
• Enhance the developer experience for crypto products, including API design, documentation, and SDKs.
• Work with legal and compliance teams on product aspects related to licensing, custody, and regulatory frameworks.
• Improve operational efficiency within your product area, focusing on reconciliation and settlement processes.
• Provide regular updates on product progress and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management, Engineering, or startup leadership, ideally within crypto, brokerage, exchanges, or financial infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in at least one of the following crypto product areas: exchange/trading, custody/wallets, tokenization, or on-chain settlement, with experience shipping products at scale.
• Experience building and releasing B2B and developer-facing products, such as SDKs and APIs, where developers and partners are the primary users.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, compliance, and partnerships.
• Business understanding to balance stakeholder needs, technical possibilities, and resource constraints.
• Regular use of AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or NotebookLM for tasks like drafting product requirements, synthesizing customer feedback, and data exploration.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated financial products combined with crypto infrastructure knowledge.
• Prior work at a crypto exchange, custodian, or institutional crypto infrastructure provider.
• Familiarity with tokenized securities, real-world assets, stablecoin payment systems, or institutional digital asset products.
• Understanding of US and international crypto regulations.
• Experience operating in a fast-paced, regulated startup environment.
