About the role
Alpaca is seeking an IT Operations Specialist to provide technical assistance and enhance the security posture of our organization. This role is crucial for supporting our distributed team members with their technology needs.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support inquiries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for staff members.
- Collaborate with HR and Security teams on employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Prepare and deploy hardware, software, and other IT equipment.
- Assist with the management of incoming and outgoing hardware assets.
- Administer mobile device management systems, including BYOD policies.
- Maintain a comprehensive record of all IT assets.
- Secure and manage endpoint devices under the guidance of the Security Team.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on IT-related subjects.
- Support change management initiatives and procurement processes.
- Perform other related IT duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support or helpdesk functions.
- Proficient in Linux, macOS, and Windows system administration, including device management and patching.
- Experience with automation workflows, single sign-on configurations, and scalable onboarding procedures.
- Competent in scripting to drive automation efforts.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments and cybersecurity tools.
- Experience with traditional on-premises local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with a collaborative work approach.
- Ability to cover operations within the Mountain or Pacific time zones.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent requests outside standard hours.
- A proactive self-starter focused on continuous improvement.
Nice to have
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Possession of IT or Security-related certifications.
- Understanding of financial services and data privacy regulations.
- Prior experience within the financial services industry.
- Business understanding to balance stakeholder needs, technical feasibility, and budget considerations.
