Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Alpaca is seeking a seasoned Senior Full-Stack Engineer to contribute to the development of core systems that power financial trading for millions. This role involves building and maintaining user-facing platforms that enhance operational efficiency and provide critical insights for our partners.

What you'll do

• Lead the design and implementation of significant, high-impact features.
• Develop features across various parts of Alpaca's infrastructure, gaining broad exposure.
• Create tools that simplify partner workflows and reduce manual tasks, directly addressing their needs.
• Contribute to the architectural direction and technical strategy of the company.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to deliver effective solutions.
• Mentor other engineers and influence technical decision-making.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-stack development.
• Expertise in TypeScript and React.
• Proficiency in at least one modern systems programming language, such as Golang or C#.
• Familiarity with HTML and CSS frameworks, including TailwindCSS.
• Strong ability to gather and translate stakeholder requirements into functional features.
• Demonstrated experience building user-facing features from start to finish.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of REST API design principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with algo trading, either professionally or personally.
• Familiarity with major cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of financial markets.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Prior experience working in a startup environment.
• Experience working in a remote setting.
• Experience developing mobile applications using React Native.
