Director of Operations, Digital Assets at Alpaca
About the role
This position is for an experienced professional to oversee digital asset trading operations. You will be responsible for managing key exchange functions in the US and Bahamas, as well as building and maintaining our internal trading desk.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead US spot exchange operations for Alpaca Crypto LLC.
- Oversee spot and derivatives exchange operations in the Bahamas for AlpacaX Crypto Limited.
- Develop and manage a global team of trade operations specialists to provide 24/5 service coverage.
- Directly support customers, ensuring a high level of service.
- Investigate and resolve trade discrepancies.
- Process trade adjustments and cancellations.
- Manage account reconciliation for inventory.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of operational procedures.
- Manage the internal trading desk, collaborating with engineering on automated hedging strategies and system monitoring.
- Oversee global fiat banking relationships.
- Maintain connections with liquidity providers, token projects, and vendors.
- Support financial and regulatory audits.
- Partner with engineering to launch innovative crypto products.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing middle and back-office trade operations within a brokerage or crypto exchange environment.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading a distributed customer service team that delivers 24/5 support.
- Professional experience trading cryptocurrencies.
- Familiarity with US cryptocurrency regulations.
Nice to have
- Background in quantitative research or experience managing a trading desk.
- Prior experience as a co-founder or on the founding team of a startup.
- Experience operating within a SOC 1/2 Type 2 certified environment.
