Senior Data Scientist

About the role

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to guide product strategy through rigorous analytics and experimentation. You will work within a cross-functional group to translate complex data into actionable insights, build internal experimentation tools, and influence the roadmap for our global brokerage infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Analyze the product funnel from onboarding to trading to uncover growth and monetization opportunities.
• Develop and maintain experimentation frameworks and tooling to enable organization-wide A/B testing and causal inference.
• Establish key performance metrics and collaborate with analytics engineering to ensure scalable, governed data reporting.
• Work directly with Product, Engineering, Design, Finance, and Operations to embed data-driven decision-making into the development lifecycle.
• Create data narratives and visualizations to inform senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Advance self-serve analytics and contribute to text-to-analytics initiatives.
• Mentor team members and establish best practices for data science across the company.

Requirements

• PhD or Master degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics, or natural sciences.
• 6 to 10 years of experience in developing and deploying predictive models.
• Proven track record in product analytics, statistical analysis, and experimentation.
• Experience building experimentation frameworks that support trustworthy A/B testing and causal inference.
• Ability to influence product direction through collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in fast-paced environments.
