About the role
Alpaca is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to enhance our product development through data-driven insights and experimentation. You will be a key contributor, working alongside product, engineering, and design teams to translate complex questions into actionable strategies. Your work will directly impact our product roadmap and user experience.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Drive product strategy by conducting in-depth analyses of user journeys, identifying areas for growth and improvement in key product and business metrics.
- Develop and implement robust experimentation frameworks and tooling to enable trustworthy A/B testing and causal inference studies across the organization.
- Define and monitor critical product performance indicators, collaborating with analytics engineering to establish reliable and scalable metrics.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Finance, and Operations to embed data-informed decision-making into the product lifecycle.
- Communicate findings and recommendations through compelling data visualizations and narratives to various stakeholders.
- Contribute to making analytics more accessible across the company, transitioning ad-hoc requests into self-serve solutions.
- Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, promoting best practices and a data-centric product culture.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in product analytics and data science, with a strong foundation in statistical analysis and experimentation.
- Experience building experimentation platforms or frameworks that support reliable A/B testing and causal inference.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence product direction with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, or similar programming languages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
- Ability to manage projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- A Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, or economics, coupled with 6-10 years of experience in developing and deploying predictive models.
