About the role
Alpaca is seeking a dedicated professional to manage corporate actions processing for our brokerage operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate handling of distributions, reorganizations, and redemptions across various asset types.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Take primary responsibility for processing corporate actions, including dividends, interest payments, stock splits, mergers, and redemptions.
- Verify and confirm event details with external partners and custodians to maintain data integrity and mitigate risk.
- Reconcile all processed corporate actions against suspense and wash accounts, ensuring daily balance.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies to prevent aging issues.
- Act as a subject matter expert for corporate actions, supporting internal teams and external partners.
- Address inquiries and manage voluntary corporate action requests.
- Contribute to the refinement of operational procedures and assist in the automation of clearing processes.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate actions processing.
- Direct experience using DTC Corporate Action Web.
- Familiarity with ICE CA data, BNY processing, and OCC Option CA procedures.
- Understanding of brokerage clearing operations and U.S. securities back-office functions.
- Knowledge of financial industry regulations and laws.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with both Microsoft and Google office suites.
- Must be able to adapt to evolving financial industry regulations and support other departments as needed.
- Must pass the FINRA SIE exam within the first 180 days of employment.

Nice to have
- An Associate's degree in a business-related field.
- 5+ years of experience in corporate actions, reconciliation, accounting, banking, or financial services.
- Possession of a FINRA Series 7 license.
- Experience processing corporate actions via the DTCC portal.
- Familiarity with Slack.

- This role supports overnight brokerage operations, requiring a consistent work schedule of 2:00 AM - 11:00 AM ET.
