About the role
Alpaca seeks an experienced accounting professional to manage the financial operations for its Japan entity. This role involves overseeing both securities accounting for regulated activities and general corporate accounting for the operating business. You will be instrumental in supporting the entity's financial health, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth initiatives.
Key facts
What you'll do
Manage accounting for a regulated securities business, including securities transactions and customer assets.
Calculate, monitor, and validate the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and support capital planning.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports to bodies like the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA).
Oversee general accounting operations, including financial close processes, cash management, and payment operations.
Support accounting system implementations and provide financial guidance for new product launches.
Collaborate with global finance teams to enhance accounting processes and standardization.
Requirements
Hands-on accounting experience within a securities firm.
Hands-on general accounting experience in a corporate setting.
Demonstrated experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles.
Familiarity with financial and management accounting principles.
Knowledge of or practical experience with Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) calculations and regulatory capital rules.
Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
