This pivotal position will encompass the management of both securities accounting related to regulated activities and the general corporate accounting for the operational side of the business. What you'll do
- Supervise the accounting processes for a regulated securities firm, which includes managing securities transactions and customer asset records.
- Calculate, track, and verify the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) while assisting in capital planning efforts.
- Prepare and file regulatory reports with organizations such as the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA).
- Manage general accounting functions, which involve overseeing the financial closing processes, cash management, and payment operations.
- Assist in the implementation of accounting systems and offer financial insights for the launch of new products.
- Collaborate with international finance teams to improve accounting processes and promote standardization across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards applicable to the securities industry.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Participate in audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting within a securities firm, demonstrating a solid understanding of the industry.
- Practical experience in general accounting within a corporate environment, showcasing versatility in financial management.
- A track record of managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing cycles effectively.
- Familiarity with financial and management accounting principles, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Knowledge of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) calculations and regulatory capital requirements is essential.
- Proficiency in both Japanese and English, enabling effective communication in a bilingual environment.
- Strong analytical skills with a knack for problem-solving, allowing for effective decision-making.
