Staff Engineer

About the role

Almedia is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our team in Berlin. This role focuses on developing key products from conception to deployment, working closely with leadership on critical initiatives. We are looking for someone who thrives on end-to-end ownership and rapid product development.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Create core product features across backend, frontend, mobile, or web, from initial idea to live production.
• Define technical architecture and make system-level decisions that guide other engineers.
• Take complete responsibility for projects, including scope, architecture, implementation, and rollout.
• Address critical initiatives such as SDK development, network improvements, or new product ventures, resolving issues quickly.
• Deliver high-quality, testable code at a fast pace.
• Collaborate with relevant team members to shape future product development.
• Utilize AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and Copilot daily to assist in development.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a senior or staff-level engineer within product teams.
• Strong foundational knowledge in backend development, such as TypeScript/Node.
• Demonstrated experience in zero-to-one projects, such as those in early-stage startups or as a founding engineer.
• A history of managing complex projects and successfully bringing them to production.
• Ability to communicate clearly and directly in English to align stakeholders and mentor other engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience in full-stack, mobile, or frontend development.
