This role focuses on transforming active-duty Soldiers into proficient software engineers through hands-on, real-world development experiences.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Mentor and guide Coaches to ensure continuous alignment and support for ASWF initiatives.
- Implement practice standards and address urgent needs within the Software Development Unit (SDU).
- Provide insights for practice health, conduct assessments, and facilitate check-ins across SDUs and the Learning Office.
- Utilize tools and processes to help SDUs adapt to new challenges.
- Assist novice Soldiers when dedicated pairs are not available.
- Offer timely feedback to practitioners regarding their practices.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 2 years of experience in coaching and coordinating teams that include software engineers, security personnel, compliance experts, data scientists, and product designers.
- Capability to train intermediate and junior software developers in software planning, requirements management, design, development, architecture, and testing across all lifecycle phases.
- Proficiency in test-driven development, lean methodologies, and DevSecOps practices.
- Familiarity with programming languages and frameworks such as Java, C#, Spring Boot, PHP, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, Python, and Kotlin.
