What you'll do
- Conduct systematic observations of marine environments to identify and document the presence of protected species, including marine mammals and sea turtles.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing observations, findings, and recommendations for mitigating impacts on protected species.
- Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring plans tailored to specific projects and species of concern.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marine biology, environmental science, wildlife management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in wildlife observation or a similar role, preferably in marine environments.
- Strong knowledge of marine species, particularly those listed as protected under federal and state laws.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis, with experience using software tools for data management.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify species in the field accurately.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey findings to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various field sites as required.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and compliance procedures.
Nice to have
- Experience with marine mammal and sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation.
- Certification in first aid and CPR, particularly in marine environments.
- Familiarity with GIS software and mapping tools for habitat analysis.
