About the role
This is a foundational role for our company, seeking a hands-on finance leader to establish and scale our financial operations. You will be a strategic partner to the executive team, influencing key business decisions through rigorous financial analysis and planning. Your focus will be on building robust financial systems and processes that support rapid growth.
Key facts
What you'll do
Develop and maintain a dynamic financial model that forecasts company performance and supports strategic decision-making.
Analyze and optimize unit economics across various locations, identifying trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
Create and manage key performance indicator dashboards for leadership, providing real-time insights into financial health and operational efficiency.
Lead the transition from QuickBooks to a scalable ERP system and refine accounting processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
Oversee cap table management, including equity grants and reporting.
Prepare financial reporting and data for investors and the board of directors.
Negotiate vendor contracts and manage commercial terms to control costs and improve financial outcomes.
Collaborate with leadership on compensation strategies, leveling frameworks, and headcount planning.
Provide stewardship for legal, insurance, and general administrative functions.
Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and prepare for financial audits.
Develop frameworks to help teams evaluate project ROI and make data-driven investment decisions.
Requirements
Experience as the primary finance hire in a fast-growing, venture-backed company, with a track record of building financial infrastructure from the ground up.
Proven ability to operate both strategically and tactically, handling detailed financial tasks and high-level planning.
Strong proficiency in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and understanding unit economics.
Demonstrated experience implementing financial systems, including migrating from QuickBooks to an ERP.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
A commercial mindset with experience in vendor negotiations and contract review.
Experience partnering with leadership on compensation and workforce planning.
A proactive approach to identifying financial needs and proposing solutions.
The ability to set the financial agenda and drive initiatives independently.
Nice to have
Experience with multi-location businesses, revenue share models, or transactional businesses.
Familiarity with hardware or inventory management.
Prior ownership of legal and G&A functions beyond core finance responsibilities.
Experience preparing for and leading a company's first financial audits.
Experience in a company that has grown through roll-ups or mergers and acquisitions.

Practical notes
