About the role
Airbyte is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and modernize our internal workflows. You will transition our accounting functions from an outsourced model to an efficient, automated in-house system while reporting to the Director of Finance.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the month-end close.
- Oversee a Senior Accountant and our external accounting firm while planning the migration of tasks to an internal team.
- Ensure US GAAP compliance and prepare documentation for external audits.
- Apply technical accounting standards, specifically ASC 606 for revenue recognition and ASC 842 for leases.
- Design and implement automated accounting systems to reduce manual processes.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Support departments to maintain data accuracy.
- Perform detailed flux and variance analysis to identify financial trends.
- Act as a strategic partner to the Director of Finance regarding AI-driven automation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASC 606, and ASC 842.
- Proven ability to evaluate and redesign accounting workflows with a focus on automation.
- Operational mindset with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in applying AI tools to accounting processes.
- Experience managing or leading team members.
Nice to have
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Background combining Big 4 audit experience with startup environments.
- Experience migrating or implementing new ERP systems.
- Familiarity with PLG or enterprise SaaS revenue models.
- Experience with auditing.
