Job description
Lead Data Scientist, Robotics at Agility Robotics.
About the role
Agility Robotics produces Digit, a humanoid robot utilized in factories and warehouses through a Robots-as-a-Service model. This position involves transforming high-volume telemetry and sensor data into actionable insights to improve robot reliability, unit economics, and product strategy.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop predictive maintenance models to estimate component lifespan and failure rates for hardware like actuators and compute systems.
- Analyze telemetry and logs to identify performance trends, define key RaaS metrics, and calculate the costs associated with human intervention.
- Create anomaly detection and root-cause analysis tools to assist engineering teams in identifying fleet issues.
- Correlate manufacturing test data with field performance to detect potential defects before deployment.
- Design frameworks for fleet-wide software experimentation and define data instrumentation strategies for future model development.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in data science or statistical modeling, specifically solving complex, real-world problems.
- Expertise in survival analysis, anomaly detection, time-series analysis, or causal inference.
- Proficiency in production-level Python, SQL, and modern data infrastructure.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical lead or senior individual contributor role, including mentoring staff and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret large-scale, multi-modal operational data such as sensor streams and event logs.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
Nice to have
- Background in robotics, autonomous systems, IoT, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of fleet operations, subscription unit economics, or SRE-style metrics.
- Experience with manufacturing quality systems, such as yield analytics or end-of-line testing.
