Robotics Software Engineer

About the role

You will develop and refine control systems to ensure our robots operate with precision and safety. This position involves bridging the gap between simulated environments and physical hardware by implementing advanced control strategies and dynamic modeling.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Design and tune real-time controllers including impedance, position, admittance, and force control.
• Create whole-body control and trajectory optimization algorithms such as MPC, DDP/iLQR, and QP-based control.
• Execute system identification and calibration for dynamic parameters, friction models, and state estimation.
• Build simulation pipelines to ensure controller performance translates accurately to real hardware.
• Write and maintain high-performance C++ and Python code.
• Coordinate with hardware, perception, and learning teams to integrate control systems.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Robotics, Control, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with control systems for articulated robots.
• Knowledge of rigid-body dynamics and control theory.
• Expertise in numerical optimization for control, including nonlinear programming and QP solvers.
• Proficiency in state estimation, parameter identification, and calibration.
• Ability to deploy and validate controllers on physical robotic systems.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills.

Nice to have

• Experience combining model-based control with learned policies like reinforcement learning.
• Familiarity with simulation environments such as MuJoCo or NVIDIA Isaac Sim.
• Knowledge of dynamics stacks like Pinocchio, Crocoddyl, CasADi, or OSQP.
• Experience with GPU acceleration via CUDA or real-time operating systems.
• History of open-source contributions to dynamics or control libraries.
