Job description
(Senior) AI / Reinforcement Learning Engineer at Agile Robots.
About the role
Agile Robots is developing humanoid systems capable of autonomous operation in real-world environments. You will lead the creation of end-to-end control policies for the Agile One platform, managing the full lifecycle from simulation training to physical hardware deployment.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build and manage scalable training pipelines, including hyperparameter tuning.
- Execute the transfer of control policies from simulation environments to physical robotic hardware.
- Embed learned policies into full-stack systems involving perception, actuation, and planning.
- Observe and analyze robot performance to refine behaviors based on real-world data.
- Benchmark current algorithms against industry standards.
- Monitor new research developments in reinforcement and imitation learning.
- Manage open-ended technical tasks with a high degree of autonomy.
Requirements
- Master degree or PhD in computer science, robotics, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience implementing reinforcement or imitation learning on physical systems, ideally with high degree-of-freedom robots.
- Deep knowledge of control theory, kinematics, dynamics, and motion planning.
- Proven track record of successful sim-to-real policy deployment on physical robots.
- Ability to make high-level technical decisions in ambiguous, evolving project scenarios.
Nice to have
- Background in training policies for locomotion or locomanipulation.
- Direct experience training and deploying software on humanoid robots.
- Publication history in major conferences such as ICRA, CoRL, RSS, NeurIPS, or ICLR.
Skills & tools
- Python and C++
- PyTorch and ONNX
- RL frameworks such as RSL-RL or Stable Baselines 3
- Physics-based simulators like IsaacSim or MuJoCo
- RL algorithms including PPO and SAC
