What you'll do

• Define and implement the frontend technical strategy for the next year, aligning it with key business objectives.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to ensure technical feasibility and manage project risks.
• Improve team efficiency by creating and promoting technical solutions and operational best practices.
• Ensure system reliability and availability through robust monitoring, incident response, and testing strategies.
• Champion code quality and best practices through code reviews, design standards, and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ownership.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Demonstrated proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving horizontal projects across multiple teams.
• A track record of successfully delivering significant features, system components, or retiring legacy functionality, supported by clear technical and execution plans.
• Ability to write clear, maintainable, and understandable code.
• Comfort navigating complex systems from low-level language details to high-level architecture.
• A history of effectively incorporating feedback from engineering and cross-functional colleagues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
• A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with modernizing web codebases, design systems, and architecture.
• Familiarity with tools and techniques for code transformation, such as codemods or AI agents.

Practical notes

• Base salary range: CAD $181,000 - $241,000 annually.
• Equity grade: 7.
• This role is open to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
