In this position, you will be responsible for shaping and managing the public narrative surrounding Affirm's financial and business landscape. Your primary focus will be to enhance the company's credibility among investors and capital partners by effectively articulating Affirm's innovative credit model and its business milestones. The overarching aim is to position Affirm as a trustworthy and forward-thinking leader within the dynamic credit sector.

What you'll do
- Define and elevate Affirm's visibility in market conversations and media narratives, emphasizing its competitive edge over both traditional credit institutions and emerging challengers.
- Craft and disseminate the company's financial narrative in collaboration with teams from Investor Relations, Finance, and Capital Markets, illustrating how Affirm's achievements contribute to consumer well-being.
- Oversee communications for key corporate events, including earnings announcements, funding milestones, and significant business news, while also identifying opportunities to promote the company's story in between these events.
- Build and nurture relationships with influential business and financial journalists, producers, and podcasters across various media outlets, establishing yourself as a trusted source for insights.
- Prepare and counsel company executives for critical media engagements and public speaking opportunities, equipping them with essential messaging and briefing documents.
- Ensure alignment between financial communications and broader company messaging, maintaining a cohesive brand voice throughout all channels.
- Monitor industry trends and media coverage to proactively identify opportunities for Affirm to engage with stakeholders and enhance its public profile.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that communications strategies are integrated and support overall business objectives.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience in corporate and financial communications, with a background in both high-growth companies and publicly traded firms.
- Established connections with national business and financial media, including reporters, producers, and podcasters, enabling you to serve as a credible spokesperson.
- In-depth knowledge of public company dynamics, including earnings reports, capital markets, and regulatory disclosure practices.
- Proven capability to interpret complex financial data and credit metrics, transforming them into clear, engaging narratives that can withstand scrutiny from media and analysts.
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to simplify intricate financial topics while ensuring accuracy and engagement.
- A proactive storytelling mindset, with a preference for initiating narratives rather than merely responding to them.
- Strong decision-making skills and composure in high-pressure situations, with the ability to act decisively while maintaining stakeholder trust.
- Operational excellence in managing critical communications moments, ensuring that every detail is meticulously addressed.
- Demonstrated success in fostering effective working relationships with diverse teams, including Communications, Investor Relations, Finance, Legal, and Policy.

Practical notes
- The base salary range for positions in U.S. states such as California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut is between $185,000 and $245,000 annually.
- For all other U.S. states, the salary range is approximately $164,000 to $224,000 per year.
- Total compensation includes base salary, equity incentives, and monthly allowances for health, wellness, and technology expenses.
