What you'll do
- Lead the Australian regulatory compliance program, translating global strategies into local actions.
- Ensure adherence to Australian regulatory and licensing obligations, supporting responsible growth.
- Oversee the Australian regulatory compliance framework for consumer credit and financial services.
- Maintain documented compliance arrangements for Australian credit license obligations and regulatory changes.
- Manage ASIC examinations, inquiries, and other supervisory engagements.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory notifications and reporting.
- Maintain the Australian regulatory obligations register and compliance risk assessment process.
- Prioritize remediation efforts and oversee root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance metrics and risk indicators across various areas like lending, complaints, and collections.
- Assess incidents and breaches, making reportability decisions and escalating material risks.
- Prepare reports for executive leadership and risk governance committees.
- Manage the regulatory change process from horizon scanning to implementation and assurance.
- Partner with various internal teams including Product, Legal, and Engineering.
- Provide practical regulatory guidance for new products and business initiatives.
- Influence complex compliance decisions related to Australian strategy and consumer outcomes.
- Manage a compliance team within Australia.
- Be accountable for the execution and continuous improvement of the Australian regulatory compliance program.
- Exercise discretion in operational planning and resource allocation.
- Make decisions impacting Australian licensing, regulatory posture, and product risk.
Requirements
- 8+ years of regulatory compliance experience in Australian regulated financial services, consumer credit, payments, or fintech.
- Prior people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Australian consumer credit and conduct regulation, ASIC expectations, and credit licensing.
- Expertise in responsible lending, product governance, complaints, and breach-reporting requirements.
- Ability to translate regulatory interpretations into practical business decisions.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams, setting priorities, and executing programs.
- Experience leading regulatory change, obligations management, and compliance monitoring.
- Experience with breach and reportable-situations processes, complaints oversight, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Clear and concise executive communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced fintech environment.
- Bachelor's degree.
