Bank Compliance Technology Analyst
Job description
About the role
This role defines the technical infrastructure ensuring Affirm Bank's compliance and anti-money laundering operations remain robust, adaptable, and audit-ready. You will serve as the critical link between regulatory mandates and operational reality, converting complex requirements into dependable systems, rules, and workflows. Your responsibilities will directly influence product launch timelines, examination outcomes, and the overall integrity of our financial crime defenses. The position operates within a remote US framework, offering full-time engagement and a base compensation between $145,000 and $205,000 annually. New hires typically enter at the lower end of this band, with total compensation including equity, wellness stipends, and comprehensive benefits. Success in this position requires ownership of the entire compliance technology lifecycle from design through validation and optimization. You will be accountable for the reliability and accuracy of systems that underpin our regulatory posture and risk management. The work you perform will provide the foundational controls that protect the organization and enable scalable growth. Every task you undertake will contribute directly to maintaining the trust of regulators, partners, and internal stakeholders.
What You'll Do
You will architect and sustain the end-to-end compliance technology ecosystem for Affirm Bank. This involves designing and operating the rules and controls that govern transaction monitoring, customer risk assessment, and elevated due diligence. You will configure case management systems, define investigation workflows, and establish clear escalation paths to ensure timely resolution. A central responsibility will be translating regulatory language and internal policy into precise system logic and technical specifications for engineering teams. You will conduct rigorous pre-release testing of all rules, models, and system changes, then continuously monitor their performance. This includes assessing data quality, alert accuracy, and system reliability to ensure consistent control effectiveness. You will own the analysis of alerts, case outcomes, and operational data to identify weaknesses and drive process improvements. This involves creating executive-facing dashboards and detailed reports for leadership, governance forums, audits, examinations, and regulatory bodies. You will maintain comprehensive documentation covering system behavior, modification history, validation results, and remediation plans. Collaboration will be cross-functional, requiring close coordination with Compliance, Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, and external vendors. You will prioritize technical initiatives and resolve issues to ensure compliance technology adapts seamlessly to new banking products. You will support the evaluation of emerging risks and the translation of those risks into technical controls. The role demands proactive identification of gaps in monitoring logic or documentation before they escalate. You will partner with data teams to optimize data pipelines that feed compliance analytics and decisioning engines. Finally, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the control environment through thoughtful automation and streamlined workflows.
Requirements
You must possess a minimum of five years of experience focused on compliance technology, BSA/AML frameworks, financial crimes prevention, or banking operations. A deep understanding of risk-based monitoring principles, customer segmentation, and case lifecycle management is essential for success in this position. You must demonstrate the ability to interpret complex regulatory or policy documents and convert them into actionable technical and operational designs. Strong analytical capabilities are non-negotiable, particularly when evaluating datasets, identifying anomalies, and diagnosing control failures. Hands-on proficiency with workflow automation, case management software, dashboard creation, data extraction, and system configuration is required. You must be an effective written communicator capable of producing clear documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to partner effectively with professionals across Compliance, Operations, Product, Engineering, and Data is fundamental to performing this role. Meticulous attention to detail, particularly regarding testing protocols, change administration, and audit preparation, is critical. You must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and problems require timely solutions. A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism is mandatory. You should be comfortable working autonomously while remaining aligned with team objectives and organizational goals. The role requires resilience, intellectual curiosity, and a dedication to continuous learning in a regulated domain. You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time.
Nice to have
A background in a regulated banking or bank-partnership environment is highly valuable for understanding real-world application of policies. Advanced skills in SQL, Python, Databricks, and Snowflake are preferred for enabling more complex analyses and integrations. Direct experience with transaction monitoring logic, risk model refinement, system deployment, or control validation is a significant advantage in managing technical implementations. Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations, along with associated regulatory guidance, is expected for this position. Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audit activities, model validation efforts, or compliance testing initiatives is also strongly desired. Familiarity with emerging technologies in the compliance technology space may provide additional perspective on innovation and efficiency.
