What you'll do
- Use data analytics to find insights that help optimize product, risk, or growth strategies across different regions.
- Help track performance metrics, user behavior, and economic trends that affect business outcomes, reporting risks and unusual events to senior team members.
- Write clean, functional SQL and Python code to create scalable reports and work with Engineering to support the deployment of machine learning and risk models.
- Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Compliance to understand evolving consumer lending rules and market needs, helping to translate them into data models and operational policies.
- Support cross-functional discussions to ensure new product launches and market entries align with operational capabilities and risk tolerance.
- Integrate AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, copilots) into daily tasks to speed up data mining and routine work, while always verifying outputs.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in an analytically-focused role; relevant internships or prior experience in consumer lending, fintech, or financial services are highly valued.
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Familiarity with data mining, data visualization, and basic statistical modeling.
- Basic understanding of (or strong interest in) consumer lending regulations, fair lending principles, and how machine learning applies to business problems.
- Excellent communication skills, humility, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional peers.

This is a remote-first company. Most roles are remote, allowing you to work from almost anywhere in the country of employment. You will receive competitive vacation and holiday schedules. An Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) is available. The base pay range for California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut is $115,000 - $165,000 per year. For all other US states, the base pay range is $101,000 - $151,000 per year. Employees new to Affirm typically start at the lower end of the pay range.
