Platform Monitoring & Incident Engineer at Adyen.
About the role
You will join the Platform Excellence team to oversee system performance and lead incident response for our global payment infrastructure. This role focuses on maintaining high reliability by managing technical emergencies, communicating with merchants, and driving long-term improvements to our monitoring frameworks.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation for the NORAM region, covering shifts from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM PDT or 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM CDT.
- Lead the coordination and resolution of high-impact incidents while acting as the primary point of contact for affected merchants.
- Analyze incident trends to identify systemic weaknesses and partner with engineering teams to implement permanent solutions rather than temporary patches.
- Communicate technical status updates clearly to both internal management and external clients during active incidents.
- Develop and maintain monitoring playbooks, automate detection capabilities, and provide actionable feedback to product teams regarding logging and alerting.
- Manage initiatives to scale and improve our operational tooling and platform reliability.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in platform monitoring, incident management, and client communication.
- Proven ability to conduct root cause investigations and implement preventative measures for recurring technical issues.
- Strong capacity to translate complex technical situations into clear, concise documentation and data-visualizing dashboards.
- Ability to work a 6-day workweek at least twice per month, including weekends.
- Willingness to work from the office, as we do not support remote-only arrangements.

- Experience defining and standardizing operational processes across global teams.
Skills & tools
- Monitoring and logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack.
- Observability platforms: Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk.
Practical notes
- Annual base salary range: $100,000 to $154,500.
