Abnormal AI seeks a Senior Revenue Accountant to manage critical aspects of the revenue closing cycle. This individual will own the preparation and review of complex reconciliations, journal entries, and detailed analyses that underpin accurate monthly financial reporting. The role provides significant ownership over technical revenue accounting processes within a fast-paced, scaling SaaS environment. You will act as a key technical authority ensuring that revenue transactions are recorded in accordance with established policies and regulatory guidance. This position requires a proactive mindset to drive the close process forward while maintaining a sharp focus on precision and compliance. You will serve as a central point of contact for cross-functional partners seeking clarity on revenue related matters. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to translate intricate accounting concepts into actionable insights for the business.

What you'll do
- Oversee the creation and meticulous review of monthly revenue-related reconciliations and supporting detailed schedules.
- Generate and rigorously examine journal entries and in-depth variance analyses pertaining to revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and commissions.
- Maintain comprehensive, audit-ready documentation for all recurring closing activities and complex accounting procedures.
- Lead assigned revenue closing tasks from initiation to completion, ensuring a high standard of accuracy and strict adherence to deadlines.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual items by collaborating effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Provide robust support for external audits by preparing thorough documentation and responding promptly to detailed inquiries from auditors.
- Partner with Deal Desk, FP&A, and Legal teams to address intricate operational issues and help refine upstream processes.
- Identify opportunities and implement meaningful improvements to closing procedures through the promotion of standardization, automation, and the use of AI-driven workflows.
- Serve as the technical expert for revenue accounting policies, ensuring consistent application across all relevant financial processes.
- Analyze complex transaction structures to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and disclosure requirements.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal controls designed to safeguard revenue integrity.
- Assist in the preparation of leadership reporting packages with a focus on revenue quality and trend analysis.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure the company remains in compliance.
- Drive process efficiency by eliminating manual steps and enhancing the reliability of financial data.
Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
- Bring a minimum of 4 years of cumulative experience in accounting, audit, or a related finance field.
- Demonstrate a proficient understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including specific experience with revenue recognition principles.
- Show a proven ability to successfully manage or lead recurring closing activities, reconciliations, and detailed financial analyses within a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
- Exhibit strong analytical capabilities combined with meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to independently identify, evaluate, and resolve complex issues.
- Have advanced proficiency in Excel, utilizing sophisticated functions for data reconciliation, analysis, and the creation of financial models.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is strongly preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Experience applying ASC 606 and ASC 340-40 within a SaaS revenue accounting context.
- Prior experience at a Big Four public accounting firm, a high-growth pre-IPO company, or a publicly traded technology firm.
- Familiarity with ERP, billing, or close management systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Maxio, or FloQast.
- Possession of a CPA certification or active pursuit of the CPA credential.

- Engagement is Full-time.
- The base salary range for this role is $95,600 - $137,500 USD.
- Compensation may also include a performance bonus, incentive pay, and equity awards.
