About the role
Abby-care is building an AI-powered platform to support family caregivers. This role involves leading mobile application development for both iOS and Android, ensuring a user-friendly and reliable experience for caregivers. You will focus on creating intuitive apps that perform well even with limited connectivity, directly impacting how families provide care.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the entire mobile app development process, from initial design to final release, for both iOS and Android platforms.
- Create intuitive and resilient user experiences, optimizing for non-technical users and ensuring functionality in low-connectivity environments.
- Establish and implement mobile testing strategies that mirror real-world usage scenarios, including automated tests and quality checks.
- Work with various teams like operations, clinical, compliance, product, and design to develop practical solutions for caregiving workflows.
- Improve mobile engineering standards in areas like code quality, architecture, observability, and security.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant work on shipping mobile applications.
- Experience developing for iOS and/or Android in a production environment, covering release management and debugging.
- Strong understanding of mobile fundamentals such as performance, reliability, app lifecycle, background execution, local storage, and networking.
- Experience designing solutions for real-world limitations like inconsistent internet access, diverse devices, and accessibility needs.
- Experience defining and implementing mobile testing strategies, including automated tests, CI, regression frameworks, and quality gates.
- Experience integrating mobile apps with backend APIs and modern authentication methods.
Nice to have
- Experience with React Native or React.
- Experience with offline-first or sync-heavy applications (e.g., queueing, retries, conflict resolution).
- Familiarity with crash/performance monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog).
- Experience with mobile CI/CD (e.g., Fastlane, GitHub Actions) and feature flagging/rollout strategies.

Practical notes
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Experience with product development, in the healthcare industry, or at startups is also preferred.
