Senior Software Engineer, Mobile

About the role

Abby Care is developing an AI-driven platform to support family caregivers and improve home-based healthcare outcomes. We are seeking a mobile engineer to lead the development of our iOS and Android applications for users who require reliable, intuitive tools in varied real-world environments. You will report to the Director of Product Engineering and work in a hybrid capacity from our San Francisco office.

What you'll do

• Manage the full mobile development lifecycle, including technical design, feature implementation, and release management.
• Create accessible, simple user interfaces optimized for caregivers who may not be tech-savvy.
• Engineer solutions for low-connectivity environments, focusing on offline-first patterns, data synchronization, and caching.
• Build and maintain mobile testing frameworks, including automated tests, regression suites, and monitoring tools to ensure app stability.
• Collaborate with clinical, product, and operations teams to integrate mobile features into actual caregiving workflows.
• Establish standards for mobile architecture, security, and code quality.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on mobile app delivery.
• Demonstrated experience building and shipping production apps for iOS or Android.
• Proficiency with React Native.
• Deep understanding of mobile fundamentals such as background execution, local storage, networking, and performance tuning.
• Experience managing mobile testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and quality gates.
• Ability to integrate mobile applications with backend APIs and modern authentication systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in startup environments or the healthcare sector is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex offline-first applications, including conflict resolution and queueing.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Sentry, Datadog, or Crashlytics.
• Experience with mobile CI/CD tools such as Fastlane or GitHub Actions.
