About the role
Abby Care is building an AI-native platform to support family caregivers and improve home-based healthcare outcomes. We are looking for an engineer to develop intelligent workflows and production-ready systems that assist clinicians and operational teams.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and implement AI agents, copilots, and automated workflows.
- Create backend services, APIs, and data pipelines to move AI solutions into production.
- Build systems capable of reasoning over clinical records, conversations, and complex healthcare data.
- Develop datasets and evaluation frameworks to measure model performance and identify failure points.
- Collaborate with product, design, and clinical teams to iterate on features based on real-world feedback.
- Maintain high-quality, tested code while building reusable components for monitoring and orchestration.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, machine learning, or Applied AI.
- Proficiency in software engineering fundamentals and programming.
- Experience developing applications that utilize language models or modern AI APIs.
- Background in backend development, API design, and production software testing.
- Ability to analyze ambiguous problems and iterate based on empirical evidence.
- Must reside in or relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Nice to have
- Experience with Python, agent architectures, or retrieval-augmented generation.
- Knowledge of document intelligence, multimodal models, structured generation, or prompt optimization.
- Background in model evaluation and system monitoring.
- Experience working in healthcare, fintech, insurance, or other highly regulated, operations-heavy environments.
