About the role
We are looking for a Data Engineer to build high-quality systems and products. You will manage the full development lifecycle, from writing code and testing to production deployment, while contributing to a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

What you'll do
- Architect and develop efficient data transformation pipelines for reporting, growth analysis, and multi-dimensional analysis.
- Create scalable and reliable big data systems that support our core business operations.
- Define engineering design standards and best practices for both technical and non-technical teams.
- Present architectural designs to cross-functional groups and mentor team members on technical decision-making.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with big data technologies including Hadoop, M/R, Hive, Spark, Flink, Metastore, Presto, and Kafka.
- Proficiency in data analysis, ingestion, and integration.
- Background in ETL processes and data system architecture.
- Skill in schema design, data modeling, and SQL querying.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Windsurf to optimize data pipelines.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Nice to have
- Experience with the Django framework.
- Exposure to AWS.

Practical notes
Base salary range is $179,400.00 to $263,120.00. Total compensation includes a bonus or commission plan, stock options, and benefits such as health insurance, life and disability insurance, 401K matching, paid holidays, self-care days, and PTO. 6sense is an equal opportunity employer.
