Staff Software Engineer

About the role

This senior individual contributor position focuses on the end-to-end ownership of complex data systems. You will influence technical strategy across the organization and resolve high-stakes challenges regarding system reliability and scale.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Architect and maintain high-throughput batch and streaming pipelines capable of processing billions of records.
• Manage core datasets that support analytics, machine learning, and product features.
• Build systems for identity resolution, enrichment, confidence scoring, and deduplication.
• Establish long-term architectural roadmaps for foundational data platforms.
• Lead major multi-quarter initiatives, including platform migrations and significant refactors.
• Define and enforce SLAs and SLOs for data accuracy, completeness, and freshness.
• Design observability frameworks, reconciliation tools, and data quality checks.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Analytics, Platform, and GTM teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and set technical standards for operational excellence and incident response.
• Use generative AI and AI coding tools to automate workflows and improve developer productivity.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in backend or data-intensive systems engineering.
• Proven track record of owning mission-critical production data platforms.
• Experience operating at a Staff or Senior engineer level.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Deep technical knowledge of streaming and big-data systems, specifically Kafka, Spark, Flink, Trino/Presto, and Hive.
• Experience with AWS-based data infrastructure.
• Expertise in distributed systems, fault tolerance, and data consistency.
• Understanding of AI-native development, including human-in-the-loop reviews, AI-driven testing, and automated code generation.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and influence teams without formal authority.

Nice to have

• Background in identity graphs, enrichment pipelines, or company/people data.
• Exposure to large-scale data governance, compliance, or privacy.
• Experience supporting ML or AI-driven product features.
