Principal Architect

About the role

6sense is looking for a technical leader to guide the architectural direction of our large-scale distributed systems. You will work across engineering and product teams to ensure our platform remains scalable, secure, and performant as we grow.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Define the long-term technical roadmap and architectural vision.
• Oversee high-level system designs, data flows, and integration strategies.
• Act as the primary authority for complex design trade-offs and technical reviews.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices across multiple teams.
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks.
• Provide hands-on guidance and reference frameworks to engineering teams.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies that provide long-term value.
• Support initiatives related to system resiliency, cost optimization, and performance.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to technical leadership forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on system architecture.
• Proven track record of designing and evolving large-scale, cloud-based distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, API design, and data modeling.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to influence stakeholders across teams without direct authority.
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with big-data, AI/ML, or data-intensive platforms.
• Proficiency in DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud cost management.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Prior experience in a Staff Architect, Principal Architect, or equivalent leadership role.
• Background in fast-scaling SaaS or enterprise environments.
