About the role
1Password is establishing a new office in Austin, and this role is crucial for managing all on-site technology. You will ensure a high-quality in-person technology experience for employees, supporting critical workplace systems daily. This position offers a unique chance to shape how workplace support evolves as the company expands its physical presence.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Oversee and maintain the Austin office's wired and wireless network infrastructure.
- Manage and operate physical security systems, including access control, cameras, and integrated platforms.
- Collaborate with the Security team on compliance, audit trails, and governance for physical security.
- Coordinate with building management for physical integrations and ongoing maintenance.
- Manage vendor relationships and the hardware lifecycle for all workplace infrastructure, monitoring uptime and reliability.
- Provide direct IT support to Austin employees for hardware, software, peripherals, and AV systems.
- Partner with the remote IT Support team to ensure a consistent support experience and improve in-person support processes.
- Manage the technology onboarding process for new Austin hires, including device setup and orientation.
- Operate AV systems in various office spaces, proactively resolving issues with video conferencing, room scheduling, and displays.
- Contribute to the broader IT support queue by handling remote requests, triaging tickets, and creating documentation.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles to scale workplace support.
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and employee experience, implementing scalable solutions.
- Ensure a welcoming office environment by maintaining reliable and user-friendly workplace technology.
- Collaborate with People, IT, Security, Finance, and Communications teams on workplace operations.
- Act as the primary contact for building management and facilities vendors, coordinating maintenance and service requests.
- Provide occasional operational support beyond technology, such as coordinating building maintenance or assisting with deliveries.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in IT support, workplace technology, or infrastructure, with hands-on experience in office environments.
- Experience with office networking, including wired and wireless setups, using platforms like Cisco Meraki, Aruba, or Ubiquiti.
- Operational experience with workplace AV systems, including video conferencing, room scheduling, multi-zone audio, and displays.
- Experience with physical security systems, including access control and camera platforms.
- Experience supporting office environments, including coordination with vendors, building management, and cross-functional partners.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing shifting priorities while developing new processes and improving existing ones.
Nice to have
- Experience in a remote-first company supporting physical office infrastructure.
- Experience with MDM platforms and device lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 requirements related to workplace technology and physical security.
- Experience creating documentation, operational processes, or workplace standards from scratch.
- Comfort with building automation workflows to reduce manual operational tasks.
