Staff Engineering Technical Writer
About the role
1Password is seeking a Staff Engineering Technical Writer to develop and implement a content strategy that supports developer tools. This role will focus on creating content optimized for AI discovery and user needs, working closely with product and customer success teams.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design content structures and sets to assist users of all skill levels with technical challenges.
- Produce content by testing workflows and documenting steps, adapting existing materials for new audiences, and collaborating with subject matter experts.
- Interact with the community and internal teams to enhance content across 1Password's channels and address gaps.
- Optimize content for AI discoverability in partnership with web platform owners, ensuring users find answers through various interfaces.
- Empower individuals within the 1Password community to create high-quality content through training, tools, and guidance.
- Distribute content across marketing, customer success, and field teams to maximize reach and impact.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience creating technical content, including documentation, tutorials, and technical marketing materials for DevOps tools, CLIs, or programming languages.
- Demonstrated ability to approach content from a user's perspective, informed by product testing, to identify content needs and product improvements.
- Experience using web analytics data to refine documentation, assess content strategy, pinpoint gaps, and increase engagement.
- Proven experience collaborating with technical product marketing, social media, customer support, subject matter experts, communications, and brand teams.
- Track record of working with content platform teams to enhance performance, usability, searchability, and AI compatibility.
- Experience enabling engineering and product teams to produce strong documentation and technical content through training, tools, standards, and automation.
