About the role
1Password is seeking an Intermediate Developer to join our Open Source Team. This role focuses on enhancing 1Password's open source presence and creating user-friendly developer tools, particularly through agentic IDE integrations like Agent Hooks and IDE plugins. You will be involved in the entire feature lifecycle, from initial concept to release and ongoing support.

What you'll do
Contribute to the planning, development, and release of new features and improvements for the team's codebases.
Maintain and enhance the team's development toolchain, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
Develop testing strategies, write unit and integration tests, and document work thoroughly.
Participate in proposal reviews, promote best practices in code reviews, and offer constructive peer feedback.
Assist the customer support team by addressing complex issues and identifying key customer feedback.
Actively participate in team planning, refinement, and estimation processes.
Identify and implement opportunities for improvement within the team's projects and community engagement.
Requirements
Demonstrated professional software development experience, with the ability to independently manage a feature from planning through release.
Proficiency with modern development tools including Git, IDEs, terminal usage, debugging, testing, and dependency management.
Familiarity with programming languages relevant to the team's work.
Strong written communication skills and a habit of creating clear documentation suitable for public repositories.
An interest in developer tooling, IDE and agent integrations, and/or open source community involvement.
A mindset that prioritizes security and aligns with 1Password's core principles.
Nice to have
Previous contributions to open source projects.
Experience with AI-enabled or agentic IDEs, or building extensions for code editors.

This is a remote position within the United States and Canada.
