Join 1Password to enhance the core systems that empower our engineers. You will be instrumental in developing and refining the tools and services that underpin our entire software development lifecycle. This role involves owning critical platform components and driving architectural decisions that improve how software is built, deployed, and managed.

What you'll do
- Lead the technical direction for foundational platform initiatives, including feature flagging, telemetry, and developer experience tooling.
- Design and build scalable backend services and APIs that support multiple engineering teams.
- Shape the team's technical roadmap, ensuring strategic alignment and long-term impact.
- Mentor fellow developers, fostering growth and promoting high standards for scalable solutions.
- Act as a key contributor to an emerging experimentation platform.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience in a production SaaS environment.
- Proven experience building and enhancing platform-level services such as feature flag systems, telemetry, or developer tools.
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable backend services and APIs that integrate across various product areas and teams.
- Experience leading technical projects that require coordination among frontend, backend, platform, and product stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the Go programming language.
- A track record of influencing engineering strategy beyond your immediate team and independently tackling complex, high-impact challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of building consensus on technical decisions across different departments.
Nice to have
- Experience developing or migrating large-scale centralized feature flag or A/B testing systems.
- Familiarity with schema type systems and approaches to cross-service type safety.
- Experience with developer experience tools, including build systems, local development environments, CI/CD, or changelog automation.
- Knowledge of Nix or monorepo tooling.
- Experience with GitHub tooling and automations that streamline the software development lifecycle.
- Experience designing or operating telemetry systems, including instrumentation, data pipelines, or observability platforms.
