About the role
1Password is seeking a Senior Atlassian Administrator to enhance our Enterprise Tools team. This position is central to managing our Jira and Statuspage environments, with a focus on evolving the Atlassian platform as the company expands. You will be instrumental in shaping how our engineering and business teams utilize these critical tools daily.

What you'll do
- Oversee the architecture, configuration, and governance of 1Password's Atlassian platform, beginning with Jira and Statuspage.
- Contribute to the Jira Council, a cross-functional body responsible for aligning the platform with organizational needs, triaging requests, and guiding decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, IT, and security departments to develop Atlassian solutions that support their operational workflows.
- Establish and enforce standards for Atlassian platform usage, including project creation, workflow design, naming conventions, field utilization, and permission models.
- Develop and maintain Jira automations to streamline tasks and improve data accuracy.
- Lead the onboarding process for new teams and programs onto Atlassian tools, creating training materials and acting as a subject matter expert.
- Manage the relationship with the Atlassian vendor and contribute to the platform's future development.
- Identify and address technical debt, configuration inconsistencies, and process inefficiencies by creating and prioritizing a backlog.
- Work with IT on integrating Atlassian tools with other enterprise systems like Slack, identity providers, CI/CD pipelines, and CRM tools.
- Evaluate, manage, and audit third-party applications and plugins to ensure platform stability, performance, and security.
- Document configurations, workflows, and decisions to ensure the platform's maintainability by the wider team.
- Prioritize security and privacy in all configuration decisions.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of experience administering Jira in a large enterprise setting.
- Extensive experience managing the Atlassian Cloud Enterprise ecosystem, including its architecture, product organizations, and sandbox environments.
- Profound expertise in Jira configuration, covering workflows, issue types, permission schemes, notification schemes, custom fields, screens, and components.
- Demonstrated success in designing and governing Jira at scale, establishing standards for platform adoption by teams.
- Strong proficiency in Jira Automation, capable of building complex rules, maintaining them, and explaining their implications.
- Solid understanding of Jira REST APIs, webhooks, and basic scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Groovy) for advanced integrations.
- Experience administering Statuspage; Confluence and Jira Service Management experience are beneficial.
- Excellent communication abilities, able to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience aligning Atlassian configurations with corporate compliance and audit requirements.
- Experience vetting, implementing, and governing third-party marketplace applications such as Scriptrunner, structure tools, and advanced reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) principles.
- A preference for simplicity and maintainability in system design.
- A strong commitment to security and privacy, with a proactive approach to access controls.
